Canada Under Overcast

To grow up in Canada is to experience it under a low, diffused sky. Shot on film, this series trades postcard views for everyday textures, tracing a quiet rhythm from fog-heavy Vancouver underpasses to frozen lakes in Northern Ontario and winding Atlantic roads along Nova Scotia’s Cabot Trail. Seasons aren’t just a scenic backdrop here, but something actively lived in: captured in impromptu ice hockey games and cold city transit stops. A palette of slate greens, weathered concrete, and soft earth tones ties these distant spaces together, grounded by real local details: Toronto skylines at dusk, Vancouver community memorials, and raw neighborhood graffiti of my hometown in Peterborough – it’s a portrait of a vast land defined by small, ordinary moments.
